The accessible entrance of Blockfest will be implemented through the Laukonsilta bridge. The assistant to a disabled person can enter the festival free of charge. This requires that both arrive to the event at the same time. Please be prepared to show your assistant card at the gates.

All ticket types will be exchanged to a wristband. If you want to avoid queues, we highly recommend you to exchange your ticket into a wristband already in advance. The wristband will be placed directly into your hand, so you can’t claim them on your friend’s behalf.

The advance wristband exchange will be implemented at Sokos Tampere (Hämeenkatu 21, 33200 Tampere). The exchange point will be located at second floor of Sokos, next to their shoe department.

Advance wristband exchange will be open as follows:
Monday 14.8. from 16:00 to 20:00
Tuesday 15.8. from 16:00 to 20:00
Wednesday 16.8. from 16:00 to 20:00

The last performances of Blockfest 2017 will be over before 24:00 and the entrances will be closed already at 23:00. But don’t worry! The legendary afterparties of Blockfest will take over the whole downtown of Tampere. Usually the performers of Blockfest will do surprise live gigs at the official afterparty venues.

The official afterparty venues of Blockfest 2017 and their lineups can be seen from here.

NB! Each venue has a limited capacity, so we can not guarantee an entry for a specific venue if it’s already full. So arrive early and remember all the other official options when considering the afterparty venue.

There is no age limit for Blockfest. However, we don’t recommend the festival for children under 15 years of age due to the nature of the event.

The tenth Blockfest will be held in Tampere on August 18th -19th 2017. The city festival has sold out in advance every year and has become the biggest hip hop event in the Nordic countries in a very short period of time. In 2015 the festival crushed its previous visitor records and was the summer’s most talked about festival when Finnish superstar Cheek made a spectacular comeback and gathered up to 60 000 people to the Tampere city centre. Blockfest is a three-time nominee in the national Industry Awards gala.

Big-time acts such as Wu-Tang Clan, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Nas, A$AP Rocky, Wiz Khalifa, Mobb Deep, Young Thug, Post Malone, Rick Ross, G-Eazy, T.I, Ty Dolla $ign and Big Sean have performed at Blockfest over the previous years.

Blockfest 2017 mobile app is now updated to to App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android). You can find timetables, festival map and other festival info conveniently through the app. The mobile application doesn’t need internet access in order to work (once it is downloaded).

You can find a cloakroom from both of our entrances, where you can leave your belongings for safekeeping at your own risk. The cloakroom costs 3 euros and each additional visit costs 2 euros. You can pay the cloakroom by Pivo wristband or by cash.

The cloakroom is open as follows:
Friday 18.8. from 14:00 to 00:30
Saturday 19.8. from 12:00 to 00:30

You can redeem your belongings only in exchange against the cloakroom tag, so keep good care of it. The organizer isn’t responsible if your cloakroom tag disappears or the consequences it will cause.

You can bring your own 0,5 liter empty plastic bottle to the festival area. We have two water faucets for refilling your water bottle. In addition to that, we naturally sell water bottles during the festival. Bringing your own alcoholic beverages to the area is absolutely forbidden.

You can also bring your own, small snacks to the area. Nevertheless, Blockfest isn’t a picnic kind of event. We have high-quality licensed areas and food stalls, which are open from the beginning of the festival on both days. We only make exceptions (for bigger snacks) if you have a special diet due to bad allergy or other medical condition.

This year you will get a cashless wristband with every single ticket type. This allows you to go back and forth from the festival area, IF it is absolutely necessary.

NOTE! A security check will be carried out at each entrance, causing completely unnecessary rushs to the entrances. So please don’t move back and forth without a good reason. We do not guarantee, that the visitor will get back inside if he / she is for example too intoxicated.

Please also note, that the wristband exchange and entrance will be closed at 22:30 on both days. After that, you can not enter the festival area. So please be on time if you want to see the last performances!

We kindly ask you to reserve your accommodation as early as possible, since every single hotel will be fully booked during the festival weekend. We’re offering rooms for lower price than hotels in general and you can purchase your’s from Tiketti. The nearest camping site is located four kilometers from the city center and is called Härmälä Camping.

The advance ticket sale of Blockfest 2017 continues as long as the tickets run out. However, we can already say that the event will be sold out before the festival dates and there will be no ticket on sale at the festival area. Ticketmaster Finland and Tiketti are the official ticket vendors of Blockfest.

The unclaimed belongings (worth over 20 euros) will be delivered to Pirkanmaan löytötavaratoimisto after the festival. You can find their contact info and visiting times from here.

Blockfest has always been a laid-back festival without any bigger conflicts, thank you for that and let’s keep it that way during the 10th Anniversary also! Good atmosphere and respect for other people are vital during a mass event like Blockfest. Keep in mind the following basic principles:

  • Hip-hop culture unites people irrespective of age, gender or other underlying factors. So remember to respect other visitors as well.
  • If you don’t want to cause queues, don’t trot back and forth from the festival area.
  • Patience and arriving early to the spot are major keys on any mass event.
  • Remember to drink water during the festival day, especially on a warm weather.
  • If you notice a dangerous situation or an accident, please inform a security guard or medical personnel about it.
  • Avoid dense masses of people especially in front of the stage, if you feel uncomfortable in those situations. Also please check out what kind of artist will be performing before going to the gig.
  • Finnish weather and the dark nights of August can be unexpected, so gear up properly
  • During a mass event, mobile and network connections can be jammed in a certain phase of the day. Therefore we highly recommend you to settle a meeting point with your friends in case someone gets lost.

Blockfest has never accepted racism and will not accept it in the future either. The festival has consistently followed the idea of bringing different kinds of visitors together by showcasing as many different aspects of the hip-hop culture as possible. Thus meaning that the lineup – both locally and globally – has been versatile since the beginning. Blockfest promotes equality, fellowship and appreciation for different cultures.

Enjoyable atmosphere and respect for other visitors are vital elements in a mass event like Blockfest. We have zero tolerance for violence and aggressive behavior. So when you arrive to the festival to have fun, please take all the other visitors into account and make sure they are able to enjoy their stay as well. Hip-hop culture unites people irrespective of age, gender, cultural background, religion or superficial factors. It DOES NOT distinguish or discriminate people.

Blockfest will be the neatest hip-hop festival in Nordic countries!

Blockfest strives to be the forerunner amongst the Finnish city festivals in terms of environmental issues. We want to arrange the event by allowing the least possible disturbance to the surrounding nature or to nearby residents. We’re proud of our hometown Tampere and we want to keep it as clean as possible.

The most direct environmental effects are the garbage in and outside of the festival area, in addition to the possible noise problems caused to nearby residents. We’re preventing cleanliness problems by guiding our visitors in advance through our various channels. In short, we recommend people to respect the nature while also giving tips for proper festival behavior.

We prepare the area for the festival weekend with excellent resources: there will be more toilet areas, trash cans and cleanliness employees than the authorities impose. Our dedicated project coordinator constructs an annual cleanliness plan.

Blockfest tries to control the side-effects in the nearby houses by fencing entrances to their courtyards and hiring security guards to prevent all types of possible vandalism during the weekend. Our cleanliness patrol also operates on the nearby areas as well as the festival area.

Blockfest also has its own sound specialist and technical team, that have composed a noise abatement plan taking nearby residents into account regarding the possible environmental noise. The nearby residents will be notified about the use of audio output devices in advance. We also have an impartial observer who measures and supervises that the festival will stay within the given decibel limits.

Blockfest was granted Ekokompassi tapahtuma certificate in 2015 (as the first music festival in Tampere) for its efforts on behalf of the environment. We continue working with Ekokompassi also this year.

In a nutshell: return your cans to the deposit points and clean up your garbage instead of throwing it to the ground. There will be numerous toilet areas at the festival. Respect the nearby residents by being polite. This way you will enable music events like Blockfest to be arranged in these circumstances also in the future.
