Virgil Abloh is American fashion designer, entrepreneur and DJ. He was listed as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2018 by Time magazine.
The 38-year old Abloh’s been deejaying since high school and collaborated with artists such as Jay Z and Daft Punk. His first official track was ”Orvnge”, a joint-project with the German producer Boys Noize released in 2018. The two of them later released a three-track EP that goes by the same name ”Orvnge”. In 2018, he performed at festivals such as Tomorrowland, HARD Summer and Lollapalooza and was also a part of Travis Scott’s Astroworld tour. This year he’s been already announced to perform at e.g. Coachella. Abloh entering the music business was not unexpected. In 2011 Abloh started working as the creative director of Kanye West’s creative agency Donda. The company is responsible for some of recent years’ most iconic hiphop album covers. Abloh’s cover design for Kanye West’s and Jay Z’s album ”Watch The Throne” was nominated for a Grammy award for the Best Recording Package.
Abloh is also known as the founder of Off-White, the high-end streetwear brand he founded in 2012 in Milan, Italy. He entered the fashion world in 2009 when he interned at Fendi, where he first met Kanye West. Later on, he’s been collaborating with brands such as Nike and will release a collection for the Swedish furniture company IKEA later his year. In 2018, Abloh was named as the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear.
