Having started as a DJ in the world of music, Skepta has risen to become one of the globally renowned British hip-hop artists. An accomplished artist, DJ, producer, and record label owner, he played a pivotal role in grime’s evolution from its underground roots to mainstream success. Skepta’s influence began to solidify in the 2000s, and he played a crucial role in grime’s transition to the pop charts.

Skepta’s breakthrough came with the release of his fourth album, “Konnichiwa,” in 2016. The album won the prestigious Mercury Prize and achieved gold record status. In 2018, he produced and featured in ASAP Rocky’s single “Praise the Lord (Da Shine),” which became a global hit. His subsequent releases, such as the album “Ignorance Is Bliss” in 2019 and “Insomnia” in 2020, elevated Skepta to the ranks of the most listened-to artists in the UK.

In addition to his solo success, Skepta has expanded his influence and audience through collaborations with various artists, including Drake, Kid Cudi, and Playboi Carti. In 2023, Skepta embarked on a new phase, founding his own festival called “Big Smoke” and an electronic music house label, showcasing his versatility as an artist.

Skepta has had a significant impact on British popular culture, earning him three nominations at the Brit Awards, including a nomination for Best British Male Artist. His influence extends beyond music, as evidenced by his inclusion in Debrett’s list of the most influential people in the UK in 2017.

In August 2024, Skepta makes his highly anticipated return to Blockfest, where he first performed in 2017. Check out the artist’s social media profiles below and grab your tickets from the link!
